ABOUT ME
As a Data Scientist, my research focuses on the application of analytics to inform decision makers in both the governmental and non-governmental (NGO) sectors. More specifically I work in domains involving vulnerable populations such as asylum seekers, the homeless, those participating in social programming, and individuals who are (or at risk of) experiencing human trafficking. Data within these domains tend to be disparate, small in quantity, poor in quality, and difficult to access and analyze. Due to these constraints, my research requires close collaboration with domain experts and those working in social sciences.
My recent research uses primary and secondary data from government and NGO organizations, seeking ways to address various social issues. In addition to working on three NSF-funded research projects, I have assisted in research examining the effectiveness of a homeless NGO’s programming. I am also a Co-Director and Fellow of the Institute for the Qualitative Study of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (QSIDE) Stopping Trafficking And Modern-day Slavery Project (STAMP) Lab. Through my research, I plan to continue to follow my passion for data science and applied analytics in addressing social issues.
